Çağla Tabak
Senior Data Scientist and Quantitative Researcher
Çağla is a Senior Data Scientist and Quantitative Researcher at Development Analytics, specialising in microsimulation modelling, household survey analysis and the design of interactive policy simulation tools.
She has worked as a quantitative expert on social protection and labour market studies across a range of country contexts, including Iraq, Türkiye, Georgia and St. Lucia, for clients such as UNICEF and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Her work focuses on ex-ante evaluation of cash transfer programmes, using nationally representative household survey data to build microsimulation models that estimate the poverty reduction effects, coverage and costs of alternative policy scenarios. Working with UNICEF country offices in St. Lucia, Türkiye and Georgia, she has contributed to microsimulation studies that inform the design and reform of national social protection systems. For UNICEF Iraq, she developed the Interactive Social Policy Simulator, a bilingual (English/Arabic) web application that models cash transfer scenarios for Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and estimates their effects on poverty, school enrolment and child vaccination.
For the ILO in Iraq, she contributed to an analysis of green employment using Iraq Household Socio-Economic Survey (IHSES) microdata, covering green job projections, wage premium estimation and labour market profiling. She also contributed to the impact evaluation design for UNICEF Iraq’s Cash Plus programme, covering data assessment, survey instruments, methodology and sampling.
Çağla holds an MA in Economics and a BA in Management Information Systems from Boğaziçi University, Türkiye.
