Position Vacant: Junior Quantitative Analyst

2. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Junior Quantitative Analyst will be responsible for qualitative and quantitative data management, statistical analysis, and research support for research and evaluations being conducted by Development Analytics across different thematic areas in social protection and poverty, education, labour, migration, and health. He/she will be a core part of the research team. This position is remote and may require travel and staying in the regions where projects are active.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Preparing and managing quantitative data from research studies and complex household surveys using R, STATA and Excel. 

  2. Preparing advanced STATA and/or R programming and documentation files for data cleaning, data setup, analysis, and presentations. 

  3. Designing and implementing statistical analysis of complex household survey data, including descriptive, multivariate, and longitudinal data analysis.

  4. Participating and collaborating on all aspects related to research development and implementation, namely all phases from initiating study design and survey questionnaire development to data preparation, analysis and dissemination of research findings. 

  5. Managing survey field work, including planning, logistics, hiring, training, supervising daily survey activities and monitoring.

  6. Conducting, coding, analysing, and reporting qualitative data. 

  7. Preparing grant and project proposals for potential projects.

  8. Helping with organisational duties when necessary.

 
3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:  

     

  1. Master’s degree in Economics, Sociology, Social Policy, Demography, Development Studies or a related field. Students already pursuing a master’s degree are highly encouraged to apply and be evaluated as an intern.

  2. Having relevant analytical experience in the field of research using household surveys.

  3. Candidates with knowledge and experience of STATA and/or R will be given priority. 

  4. Should have excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.

  5. English language proficiency is required.
