Merve Demirel Derebaşoğlu, Ph.D.

Dr. Merve Demirel Derebaşoğlu is an accomplished economist with a strong background in the Economics of Education and Gender. Currently serving as a post-doctoral research fellow at the European University Institute, she specializes in policies designed to enhance female education and improve women's labor market outcomes.

Dr. Merve Demirel Derebaşoğlu is particularly interested in initiatives that focus on improving cognitive and noncognitive skills at early ages to promote success throughout one's lifetime. With a commitment to advancing knowledge in her field, she contributes valuable insights to the intersection of economics, education, and gender studies.


Her academic journey includes earning a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Mathematics, as well as a Ph.D. in Economics, all from Bilkent University in Türkiye.
